About Traditional Chinese Medicine
The persevering philosophy behind Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is that each person is to be treated as a whole; all dimensions must be considered, including the entire organ and tissue system, the connection between the body, the mind, and the spirit, and how the individual interacts and lives within his or her environment. A well-skilled TCM practitioner uses ancient modalities – such as acupuncture and customized herbal formulas – that date back to 3000 BC to bring “whole body healing” to patients.
A core component of TCM is vital energy, which is also known as Qi. This energy flows through the human body via meridians much like the way water flows through pipes. And when energy gets blocked, an illness results. Dr. Lin works to identify the specific “pattern of disharmony” – also known as the root of the illness – in each patient, and restores the body’s natural healing ability by using a combination of modalities and treatments unique to each individual.
